20 Festivals and Events Within 20 Minutes of 20/Twenty Towns

Among the many perks of living at 20/Twenty is the close proximity to one of the most charming lakeshore communities in the province. Port Credit is a peaceful, yet very active village. It’s arguably the hotbed of Mississauga and throughout the year it plays host to a number of events.

Here are 20 events in Port Credit throughout the year that you won’t want to miss.

  1. Lakeshore Art Trail
    Art and culture are what Port Credit residents pride themselves on and nowhere is that more apparent than during the annual Lakeshore Art Trail. October 19, 20 will see the running of the 20th Lakeshore Art Trail, inviting one and all to enjoy a self-guided tour of 24 different artists as they display their work across a number of local businesses.
  2. Southside Shuffle Blues and Jazz Festival
    The Southside Shuffle is a blues and jazz festival that has been entertaining residents of Port Credit for over 20 years. This annual event offers great music, beer gardens, food, craft vendors, and more.
  3. Port Credit Trick N’ Treats
    Halloween comes early in Port Credit! Port Credit Trick ‘N’ Treats invites kids to trick or treat door-to-door of many local businesses around Port Credit the weekend before Halloween. This annual event has become a must on the local calendar.
  4. The Lighting of the Lighthouse (Dec. 7)
    Many places hold Christmas Tree Lighting events, but how many can boast that they participate in a Lighthouse Lighting around the holidays? Port Credit can! At the historic landmark, everyone is encouraged to come out for a day of fun winter activities, including games, ice sculptures, a market, entertainment, and of course, the lighting of the lighthouse.
  5. Maple Magic
    Take a step back to a simpler time at Maple Magic. Running during the March Break at Bradley Museum, just a short five-minute drive from Port Credit, Maple Magic offers demonstrations on the collection of sap from trees, how maple syrup is made, how to milk a cow, maple taffy demonstrations, and more. Be sure to check out the sugar shack, where you can enjoy pancakes with fresh maple syrup, a petting zoo, and so much more.
  6. Music at Port Street Market
    Summer is a lively time in Port Credit, thanks in large to Music at Port Street Market. On Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer, the Port Street Market features performances from local musicians. It’s another great reason to explore the charming village during the summer months.
  7. Arts at the Port
    Explore Port Credit’s artsy side at Arts at the Port. This family-friendly event features various forms of live entertainment, including artistic music, short film screenings, poetry, dances, fashion shows, and much more.
  8. Mississauga Rotary Ribfest
    Is there anything that goes better with summer than ribs? The Mississauga Rotary Ribfest has been one of the summer’s marquee events, but in 2019 the festival was BIGGER. BETTER. BOLDER. The event featured nine rib vendors, live entertainment, a kids’ zone, and much more.
  9. Mississauga Marathon (May 3)
    Few things bring people in the community together like the Mississauga Marathon. This annual event attracts hundreds of participants of all ages and skillsets for a fun day of running and charity. Whether you’re looking to set records or enjoy a relaxing walk, the Mississauga Marathon welcomes all.
  10. Mississauga Dragon Boat Festival
    The annual Mississauga Dragon Boat Festival invites teams of 18-22 people to race in two heats, a preliminary race and then the finals. The event also features Industry Races, inviting three or more teams from the same organization or community group to race against each other.
  1. Port Credit Comedy Festival
    If laughter is the best medicine, then Port Credit residents must be one healthy bunch. For seven years the community has hosted the Port Credit Comedy Festival, bringing in comics from near and far for a weekend full of laughs. Comics over the years have included Steve Patterson, John Dore, Sean Cullen, Mike Bullard, and more.

    The Port Credit Busker Fest is a one-of-a-kind festival sure to leave a smile on the entire family. Come out and witness the best in circus-style entertainment from across the world, including clowns, firebreathers, trapeze artists, breakdancers, beatboxers, magicians, and more.
  3. Artfest Port Credit
    – Artfest Port Credit is a three-day outdoor arts and crafts festival in Memorial Park. The event runs during the last weekend in May and features live entertainment, craft workshops, hands-on art, performing artists, and much more.
  4. Craftadian Christmas Market – Port Credit 2019
    -Running the second Saturday of November, the First United Church hosts the Craftadian Christmas Market. Come and explore local vendors offering 100% Canadian handmade crafts and items.
  5. Mississauga Waterfront Festival
    The Mississauga Waterfront Festival has been a summer favourite of locals for years. Port Credit Memorial Park hosts this festival, offering tons of entertainment and attractions for the entire family. With food, midway rides, arts and crafts, a beer garden, concerts, and even a super dogs show, there is something for the entire family.
  6. Port Credit Easter Fair
    Come out to Port Credit for the Easter Fair and take part in this large Easter egg hunt.   8. Paint the Town Red – Canada Day
    Show your true Canadian colours at Paint the Town Red on Canada Day. Enjoy this day-long festival celebrating everything Canada. Featuring live music, the Hazel McCallion Canada Parade, a BBQ, face painting, a kids’ zone, and fireworks, ring in Canada’s Birthday with a bang.
  9. Arts on the Credit
    – The Waterside Inn showcases the incredible work of over 40 artists at the Arts on the Credit. The event first launched in 2011 and has attracted thousands of visitors during its eight-year run. Attendees are encouraged to come view and purchase art and even converse with the artists themselves.
  10. The Great Salmon Derby
    Fishing enthusiasts will be pleased to know that for the majority of the summer Lake Ontario is host to one of the biggest fishing derbies around. The Great Salmon Derby runs annually from June 29 to Aug. 17, with prizes going to the biggest salmon caught during that time as well as during weekly mini derbies. With many fishing charters and a contest weight station in Port Credit, Port Credit residents have all the tools to reel in a winning catch.
